Why are we called The Clockwork Moth?

...In 2007 Charlie was commissioned by Living Structures to make an interactive experience involving a moth puppet that would fly into a candle flame and burn up. As this show was being repeated several times over different nights, and each performance featured several moths being consumed by flames, we became rather attached to the image of the moth, making and re-making it, over and over.

Later that year we conceived of a summer school for young people that would teach puppetry, crafts and storytelling - it was an idea much larger than us at the time, but if we had realised it, it would have been called 'The Clockwork Zoo,' expressing a menagerie of different creative skills.

And so, with a reason to be, 'The Clockwork Moth' emerged from its chrysalis. Isn't it beautiful!
